What I'm Consuming

If you would like to absorb a curated selection of the same content I do here are a few resources.

Feed hose

RSS remains, for me, the best way to keep up to date in the world whilst being able to keep down the amount of click-bait, advertising and orchestrated-hype piffle. If you would like to see a very small selection of the articles I’m reading, the things I thought were most worth “re-publishing” then follow the link below. Note: the articles are typically presented without comment so it’s up to you to interpret whether I found them noteworthy for their excellence, tragic awfulness, comedic value or any other reason.

  • “Re-published articles” from my RSS feeds - RSS

Some sites I follow, via RSS, that I might recommend to others:

  • Hacker News - General nerdyness, don’t ruin it, obey the rules, don’t be gauche.

Books

My Calibre-Web collection of books, things I’ve recently read (or intended to read). There is some ability to view the books (or more if you ask), please don’t abuse this. If I like a work I will support the creator by buying it, be that an ebook or a dog-eared paperback, I recommend you do the same (books at least aren’t some advertising supported hell-scape where perverse incentives rule)†, maybe you’ll find some things you like from this list, support them, and we’ll all get more like them.

† To be fair, I’m not sure the likes of George Eliot et al. will get the money you attempt to send her and some versions of her works on popular ebook websites have been translated into infuriating American abominations, perhaps to allow new copyright and sale, I’m still troubled by the mental scars one such version of Middlemarch left on me (luckily I realised fairly quickly), so use your best judgement, be that Project Gutenberg, a reputable classic paperback or something else.
